Wild Pandaria: Flowing Pandaren Spirit

The Flowing Pandaren Spirit marks our fourth and final stop on our tour of the Pandaren Spirit Trainers. One more battle and you can claim supremacy over those "illiterate mongrels", as Bheez likes to say... to us. Hooray! With the right lineup this fight is no contest.

Find out how I fared here!

The trick to out lasting the enemy is countering their 2 to 3 round burst attack with an avoidance or evasion type ability. This buys you an extra round to live and do damage which is all you'll need.

My Lineup:

Shrine Fly using Slicing Wind, Cocoon Strike, Glowing Toxin
Alpine Foxling using Bite, Howl, Leap
Eternal Strider using Water Jet, Cleansing Raid, Pump

The Flowing Pandaren Spirit trainer will open with an aquatic pet (Marley), then use a critter (Tiptoe), and finally his elemental counterpart.

My Strat:
  1. Open with the Shrine Fly
  2. Use Glowing Toxin (third slot ability)
  3. Use Slicing Wind (first slot) until Marley dives (and you see the rounds count down to one on his Whirlpool ability
  4. Then use Cocoon Strike (second slot) to absorb the damage of the Dive
  5. Repeat this process until Marley is down
  6. Keep the Shrine Fly in play and open with Glowing Toxin (third slot) on the next pet as well
  7. Use Slicing Wind (first slot) until your fly is swatted
  8. Swap to the Alpine Foxling
  9. Use Howl (second slot)
  10. Use Leap (third slot)
  11. Use Bite (first slot)
  12. Tiptoe should be dead, you can either keep the fox in play until it is down as well or swap to the Eternal Strider once the elemental is out
  13. Use Cleansing Rain (second slot) on your first round as the Eternal Strider
  14. Use Water Jet (first slot) until you are the winner!

Pet Acquisition:
  • The Shrine Fly (levels 23 - 25) can be found in the Jade Forest in Pandaria, most commonly between the fork in the road on the western side of the map that leads to the Valley of the Four Winds.
  • Alpine Foxlings (levels 24 - 25)  can be found all over the snowy mountain ranges in Kun-Lai Summit in Pandaria. This is also a good time to pick up a Kun-Lai Runt as they are found in the same area.
  • Eternal Striders (levels 24 - 25) can be found in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms in Pandaria check the areas with rivers and lakes.

Pet Alternatives:
  • The Shrine Fly is a winner against this elemental's first pet because flying types are strong against aquatic types. But the cherry on top is the Shrine Fly's ability to absorb damage for one round (or one hit) using Cocoon Strike. Any pet that meets these two criteria should produce similar results. The Effervescent Glowfly, Firefly, and Mei Li Sparkler are good replacements. Moth pets are also good alternatives because their abilities are the same minus the Glowing Toxin. Whichever you use just make sure your DPS ability is considered flying damage.
  • Alpine Foxlings can be replaced with most fox or wolf pets in the game as they have the same skill set. I like the synergy that the Howl-Leap-and Bite combo have for quickly dispatching of critters. Other beast pets with this lineup include: Apline Foxling KitArctic Fox KitFjord Worg PupFox Kit, or the Worg Pup.
  • The Eternal Strider can be replaced by any aquatic pet really, the key to its success is that its type is a strong counter to an elemental pet. With that said, here is a list of aquatic pets with the Water Jet ability which is what I prefer to use.

  1. Luckily another easy fight for us 'illiterate mongrels' to overcome. I chose this Spirit as my reward due to two factors: naming it Undine and it has the lowest drop rate for the dailies.

    Or something.

    Don't quote me on that.

Good guides! Way to contribute something semi-informative and comprehensible (aka: spell checked) to the blog (FOR ONCE).

    1. Yeah I suffered through these posts FOR YOU, SPECIFICALLY. I chose the fire pet when I completed the quest because it was the one fight of the four I really didn't want to do again... And yet I still do. Every. Day.
